About Us
Our family farm is a refuge for over 200 farm or exotic pets, many of which were brought here from Michigan Humane Society, various city animal control, non-profit pet groups, or given up by owners or rescued by us.
Most shelters are set up for dogs and cats and cannot or are not able to except "farm" or "exotic" pets such as emus, potbellied pigs, ducks and chickens, bunnies, goats, parrots, horses and even snakes and tropical fish! We provide an alternative to euthanasia or abandonment in these cases.
We try to re-home our foster pets if they are adoptable, but in many cases they are sent here because they are not, especially from the cat groups that utilize us. We take in the un-adoptable, sometimes semi-feral felines that they have put much time and effort into but turn out unacceptable as a house pet.
We welcome the opportunity to tell you some stories of our wonderful managerie and if you are looking for a forever pet someday we hope we can help!
Update 4/7/2010: We have taken in 4 dogs, a dove, a parakeet, and a muscovie duck in the past month. We are looking to rehome the dove, the parakeet, and the lovely Brittany Spaniel mix, Kaitlyn. A wonderful kids dog and great housedog. The other 3 dogs need grooming and dental work, and then may need homes.
Update 6/2/201: Cocoa, Kaitlyn, dove, and parakeet, all found new homes! And Abby the elderly chihuahua received her much needed dental surgery and is the happiest little dog ever! Thanks so much to Michelle and Mike for donating for her dentistry!
We rescued 4 more dogs last week, along with a bunny and chinchilla, and have already placed 3 of the dogs!
We still need homes for bunnies and Buddy the chocolate Lab. Brownie, the chocolate pointer, who was found abandoned in state hunting land, also needs a home or another foster asap.
Kittens are now also available!
We've also gotten a bearded dragon, renamed Spike (above, top), and look forward to adding him to our educational petting show. The kids will love him!!
